Dental implants in Tirana

A titanium screw replaces the root of the missing tooth and carries a crown that looks and works like the original. Placed with 3D planning, using Italian JD implants, from €400.

What a dental implant actually is

An implant is a titanium screw placed into the jawbone where the root of the missing tooth used to be. Bone grows onto its surface over the following months, a process called osseointegration, and once that has happened the implant can carry a crown, a bridge or a full arch. Nothing is ground down on the neighbouring teeth, which is the main reason an implant is preferred to a conventional bridge.

We use JD Evolution implants, manufactured in Italy, with documented long-term data and a component system that any implantologist in Europe can recognise and service.

Who it suits

  • One or more missing teeth, whether lost recently or years ago
  • A tooth that cannot be saved and needs extracting
  • An existing bridge or partial denture you want to be rid of
  • A loose lower denture that can be stabilised on two to four implants

When we will say no, or not yet

Honesty here saves you a wasted trip. We postpone or decline implant surgery when there is active untreated gum disease, uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking that the patient is unwilling to reduce around surgery, current intravenous bisphosphonate therapy, or recent head and neck radiotherapy. Where bone volume is insufficient we do not force an implant into it; we graft first and place the implant afterwards, and we tell you that at the planning stage, not after you have arrived.

How the procedure goes

Trip one, three to four days

  • Day 1 — examination, 3D CBCT scan, confirmation of the plan and the price.
  • Day 2 — surgery. The gum is opened, the implant site is prepared, the implant is placed and the gum is closed with stitches. One implant takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Day 3–4 — check-up, and a temporary tooth if the gap is visible.

Healing at home, three to six months

You go home and get on with life. The implant integrates under the gum. We check in by WhatsApp and ask for a photograph at two weeks.

Trip two, five to seven days

  • The implant is uncovered and a healing abutment is fitted.
  • A digital scan is taken and sent to the in-house laboratory.
  • The abutment and the final zirconia crown are fitted and adjusted.

Immediate loading

In selected cases with good bone quality, a temporary crown or a temporary fixed bridge can be fitted within 24 to 72 hours of surgery, so you never leave with a visible gap. Whether that is possible for you is decided on the CBCT scan and on the stability measured at the moment of placement, never promised in advance by email.

Recovery

Expect swelling for two to three days and mild discomfort managed with ordinary painkillers. Soft food for a week, no smoking, no rinsing hard for the first 24 hours, no gym for three days. Most patients fly home the day after surgery without difficulty; we simply ask that you do not book the flight for the same evening.

Aftercare and warranty

You leave with your CBCT scan, the implant passport carrying the lot numbers, and written aftercare instructions — everything a dentist anywhere in Europe would need to service the work. Warranty conditions depend on the implant system, the restoration and your clinical situation, and they are set out in writing in your treatment documentation rather than promised vaguely in advance.

FAQ

Questions about this treatment

€400 for the implant itself. A zirconia crown on top is €170, so a complete single tooth is around €570. Bone grafting, if needed, is €200 for the graft material and €200 for the membrane.

The surgery is done under local anaesthetic and is not painful. The two days afterwards feel like a heavy bruise and respond to ordinary painkillers. Sedation is available for anxious patients.

With good hygiene and regular check-ups, decades. The literature reports survival above 95% at ten years. The crown on top may need replacing sooner than the implant beneath it.

Surgery and final crowns in one trip is only possible with immediate loading protocols and the right bone conditions. For most single implants, two trips give a better long-term result.

Early failure of integration is uncommon, and it is not something you have to sort out alone. Send photographs to your coordinator; the clinical team reviews the case and tells you what needs to happen. What is covered, and on what conditions, is written into the warranty terms issued with your treatment documentation.
