Practical

What to know before you land

Visa

EU, UK, US, Canadian and Australian citizens enter Albania without a visa and can stay up to 90 days. Bring a passport valid for the duration of your stay.

Currency

The Albanian lek. Euro is widely accepted and cards work almost everywhere, but keep some lek for taxis and small cafés. ATMs are everywhere in the centre.

Transfers

Airport transfer assistance depends on your treatment package — your coordinator will tell you what applies to your case. Between hotel and clinic walking is usually easiest, and a taxi across town costs a few euro.

Language

Italian is widely understood in Tirana and English is common among younger people. At the clinic you will be spoken to in your own language.

SIM and internet

Local SIMs with generous data cost a few euro at the airport. Wi-Fi is free in almost every café, hotel and at the clinic.

Pharmacies

Open late in the centre, several are 24-hour. Your prescriptions are written so they can be filled locally, and your coordinator can go with you.

Weather

Mediterranean: hot and dry from June to September, mild and wet in winter. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable months to be treated.

Emergency

112 for all emergencies. Your coordinator's mobile number is available around the clock during your stay, including weekends.

Accommodation

Where to stay

We book on your behalf, often at rates below the public ones. Three levels, all within a short walk or a short drive of the clinic.

Premium

International five-star hotels around Skanderbeg Square and the Blloku district. Spa, restaurant, full service. Roughly €120–200 a night.

Comfortable

Well-run four-star hotels and boutique properties a few minutes from the clinic. Breakfast included, quiet rooms. Roughly €55–95 a night.

Apartments

Serviced apartments with a kitchen, which many patients prefer for longer full-arch trips. Roughly €35–70 a night.

Indicative rates for orientation. Actual prices depend on season and availability at the time of booking.

The rest of the trip

You will not spend the week in a waiting room

Most treatment days involve one or two hours at the clinic. The rest of the time is yours, and Tirana is a genuinely good city to have time in.

  • Bunk'Art 1 and 2
  • The Pyramid of Tirana
  • Skanderbeg Square
  • Dajti Ekspres cable car
  • The Blloku district
  • National History Museum
  • Grand Park and the lake
  • Day trip to Krujë
  • Day trip to Durrës beach
  • Berat, two hours south
